BOYS/GIRLS STATE CITIZENS--EARN COLLEGE CREDIT FOR SUMMER 2010 PROGRAMS
Earn College Elective Leadership Credits Recognition - fully transferable elective credits to the regionally accredited college you select - Here's How:
'Citizens' attending these Boys & Girls State leadership programs can earn college Leadership elective credits (fully transferable elective credits to the accredited college you select post-high school with the concurrence of your college academic advisor) from Adams State College (ASC). ASC is appropriately accredited through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.  Please contact Bob Greene if you have any questions on accreditation, or review accreditation information at this site: CHEA.org. Follow the instructions, at the right of this page, to help you with the registration process. Complete the academic requirements stated below for your grade. All homework requirements due, by email only. Not later than 10 August 2010.

Academic Requirements:
We require that you write a thank you letter, plus a program reflection paper of not less than two typewritten (double-spaced, #12 font) pages, "providing feedback" to your American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary sponsor about your leadership experience. After that mailing, provide Dr. Ray Striler (), your 'instructor of record', an email copy of what you wrote not later than 10 August 2010. For a course description, click the course number in each paragraph below.

For the 3-credit Citizenship Course (HGP 179):
Provide your instructor of record (Dr. Ray Striler: ) a copy of the post-attendance "Thank You" package described in the preceding paragraph. Your final grade for this course will not be released until a copy of the thank you letter and program reflection paper cited is submitted to Dr. Striler. Your personal package will determine your final grade for this three-credit course. Please ensure that the documents are given a thorough grammar and spell check before emailing them to Dr. Striler.

For the 1-credit College Options Course (ID 179):
In an email addressed to both the instructor of record, Dr. Ray Striler ( ), and Mr.Terry Wilfong at the College Options Foundation ( ), provide a no-more than one-page email evaluation of the CD set. Any and all constructive improvement suggestions are appreciated. This emailed analysis to the College Options Foundation and Dr. Striler will determine the final grade received for this one-credit course.

A new 3-credit optional American Veterans-Profiles in Leadership Course (LEAD 120):
This course is available for all participants wanting additional credit for an associated community service-learning project with their local sponsoring American Legion Post/American Legion Auxiliary Unit support. Please read the details for these associated three-credits at this link and coordinate your effort with a volunteer mentor locally: American Veterans. Final papers for this effort must be submitted by email attachment to (Dr. Ray Striler – instructor of record).

All courses cost $60 per credit at ASC. Students must register and pay for these courses not later than 30 June 2010, as CDs are not mailed until the student pays for their registration of at least three of these four credits, and that payment is then verified by ASC to RTG & Associates, Inc. in its weekly report (usually on Wednesday afternoons).
