'Citizens' attending these Boys & Girls State leadership programs can earn college Leadership elective credits (fully transferable elective credits to the accredited college you select post-high school with the concurrence of your college academic advisor) from Adams State College (ASC). ASC is appropriately accredited through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.  Please contact Bob Greene if you have any questions on regional accreditation, or review accreditation information at this site: CHEA.org. Follow the instructions, at the right of this page, to help you with the registration process. Complete the academic requirements stated below for your grade. All homework requirements due, by email only. Not later than 10 December 2010.

Academic Requirements:
We require that you write a short "Thank You Letter", plus a program reflection paper of not less than two typewritten (double-spaced, #12 font) pages, "providing feedback" to your American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary sponsor about your leadership experience. After that mailing, provide Dr. Ray Striler (), your 'instructor of record', an emailed copy of what you wrote not later than 10 December 2010. For the 3-credit Citizenship Course (HGP 179):
Provide your instructor of record (Dr. Ray Striler: ) a copy of the post-attendance "Thank You" package described in the preceding paragraph. Your final grade for this course will not be released until a copy of the thank you letter and program reflection paper cited is submitted to Dr. Striler. Your personal package will determine your final grade for this three-credit course. Please ensure that the documents are given a thorough grammar and spell check before emailing them to Dr. Striler.

For the 1-credit College Options Course (ID 179):
In an email addressed to both the instructor of record, Dr. Ray Striler ( ), and Mr.Terry Wilfong at the College Options Foundation ( ), provide a no-more than one-page emailed evaluation of the CD set. Any and all constructive improvement suggestions are appreciated. This emailed analysis to the College Options Foundation and Dr. Striler will determine the final grade received for this one-credit course.

A new 3-credit optional American Veterans-Profiles in Leadership Course (LEAD 120):
This course, produced by the VETERANS NATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM (VNEP), A Pennsylvania based 503(c) non-profit, is available for all participants wanting additional credit for an associated community service-learning project with their local sponsoring American Legion Post/American Legion Auxiliary Unit support. Please read the details for these associated three-credits at this link and coordinate your effort with a volunteer mentor locally: American Veterans. Final papers for this effort must be submitted by email attachment to (Dr. Ray Striler – instructor of record).

GENERAL INFORMATION:
All courses cost $60 per credit at ASC. Students must register and pay for LEAD 120 not later than 31 October 2010, as DVD sets are not mailed until the student pays for their registration of at least three credits, and that payment is then verified by ASC to RTG & Associates, Inc. in its weekly report (usually on Wednesday afternoons).

LEAD 120 Students registering and paying for only 2 credits must purchase their DVD set by emailing a notification request to Mr. Bob Greene: and sending in a check or money order for $25.00 to this address:

Upon receipt and clearing a deposit, a set of five DVDs will be mailed to the 2-credit applicant. Students registering and paying for three credits receive the DVD set at no cost.

Registration made easy!
When you complete your 'Citizen' week, you'll have the option to register for three elective leadership courses, for up to 7 college elective credits, HGP 179 (three credits) and ID 179 (one credit). These two are directly associated with your one-week Boys/Girls State experience, and CDs from the College Options Foundation provided at no cost for 3-credit+ registrants. The third course, LEAD 120, working with your local Legion Post on a Community Service Learning project over the remainder of your Fall Semester, is purely optional and can count as two or three credits depending on your personal desires.

Tuition is $60 per credit. If you elect only three of these credits (HGP 179), the price is $180. The college preparatory 2-CD-ROM package, COLLEGE SUCCESS 101(SAT/ACT and College Financing disks), are provided at no cost for 'Citizens' registering for three or more credits. You can register anytime between 1 August and 31 October 2010.

Second, you must pay for these credits at the time of registration by credit or debit card, or by check with a printed bill from the ASC Registration site.

Finally, Adams State College will automatically send you your transcripts at the end of the semester. You can order additional transcripts by Clicking Here and ordering them for whatever individual need you might have.

Boys and Girls State Citizens, who opt out of the college credits but desire the CD-ROM Set, COLLEGE SUCCESS 101, can receive it for a $15 fee plus $3 for s.h.
