EARN COLLEGE CREDIT FOR BOYS & GIRLS STATE CITIZENS
Earn College Elective Leadership Credits Recognition - fully transferable elective credits to the accredited college you select - Here's How:
'Citizens' attending these Boys & Girls State leadership programs can earn college Leadership Elective Credits (fully transferable elective credits to the accredited college you select post-high school with the concurrence of your college academic advisor) from Adams State College (ASC). ASC is accredited through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.   Please contact Bob Greene if you have any questions on accreditation. Follow the instructions, at the right of this page, to help you with the registration process. Complete the academic requirements below for your grade.

Academic Requirements:
We require that you write a two-page reflection paper discussing "life leadership lessons learned" focused on your week's involvement. In addition to this, we request that you send it to your appropriate sponsoring post or unit, along with a short "Thank You" cover letter for their financial support and sponsorship. After that mailing, please do not forget to provide Dr. Ray Striler () your 'instructor of record' an email copy of what you wrote not later than 31 July 2009. For a course description, click the course number in each paragraph below.

For the 3-credit Citizenship Course (HGP 179):
Provide your instructor of record (Dr. Ray Striler: ) a copy of the post-attendance "Thank You" package described above. Your final grade for this course will not be released until a copy of the thank you letter and two-page reflection paper, cited above, is submitted to your instructor of record. Your personal package will determine your final grade for this three-credit course. Please ensure that the documents are given a thorough grammar and spell check before emailing them to Dr. Striler.

For the 1-credit College Options Course (ID 179):
In an email addressed to both the instructor of record, Dr. Ray Striler ( ), and Terry Wilfong at College Options Foundation ( ), describe how using the College Options disc set made a difference in your college preparations. Any and all constructive improvement suggestions are appreciated. This emailed analysis to the College Options Foundation will determine the final grade received for this one-credit course.

'Citizens' attending these Boys & Girls State leadership programs can start the registration process for college elective credits at this link: Girls/Boys State 2008. Please contact Bob Greene if you have any questions. Follow the instructions to the right to help you with your registration process.
Academic Requirements:
We do not want to or desire any change to your current Boys/Girls State requirements/curriculum. These credits were developed recognizing the existing curriculum of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Boys and Girls State Programs.

We simply ask to receive a copy of your individual post-week 'Thank You Letter' to your local American Legion Post, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit or State Sponsor for LEAD 152, Citizenship credit.
  • For the 3-credit Citizenship course (LEAD 152)
  • Provide your instructor of record (Bob Greene: email: ) a copy of the post-attendance 'Thank You Letter' you sent to your local Unit/Post
  • For the 1-credit College Options Course (LEAD 161):
    • In an email to Terry Wilfong (Admin@CollegeOptions.net), describe how using the College Options disc set made a difference in your college preparations.

All Homework Papers are due not later than 31 July 2009 to , instructor of record, by email attachment only.

Registration made easy!
When you register, you'll have the option to register for two elective leadership courses for up to 4 college elective credits, HGP 179 (three credits) and ID 179 (one credit).

Tuition is $60 per credit, or $240.00 for the full four ASC elective credits. If you elect only three of these credits (HGP 179), the price is $180. The college preparatory 2-CD-ROM package, COLLEGE SUCCESS 101, is provided at no cost for 'Citizens' registering for three or more credits. You can register anytime between 1 March and 31 July 2009

First, enter the register here site and follow the procedures provided. If you have any questions about these procedures, contact Bob Greene at 303.840.3063.

Second, you must pay for these credits at the same time you register.

Finally, Adams State College will automatically send you your transcripts at the end of the semester.

Boys and Girls State Citizens, who opt out of the college credits but desire the CD-ROM Set, COLLEGE SUCCESS 101, can receive it for a $15 fee plus $3 for s.h. Please email Ms. Keirston Stepp () of College Options Foundation to request payment instructions and shipment of the College Success CD package.
